People aren’t taking the “signal-gate” controversy seriously enough— mainly because no Americans got killed. But this mistake was egregious. And someone very well could have gotten hurt.
And that “someone” could have been YOU. Or your family.
Sharing sensitive national security information on a commercial app is stupid, illegal, and extremely dangerous.
It put the life of every single American potentially at risk.
Had a sinister person been on that group chat — quietly collecting information for a few more days, weeks, or even months— there is no telling what might have eventually happened.
We got lucky that the information was dropped into the hands of a patriotic journalist.
But in another scenario — given the nature of the information government officials were sharing on this app — Americans could have been rocked by a true disaster. The Trump administration’s actions could have impacted every single one of us.
