Will ANYONE trust our elections this year?

We need a “Grand Bargain” on voting in America

Republicans believe the 2020 election was stolen. Democrats believe Republicans are rewriting the rules to steal the 2026 and 2028 elections. That standoff leads somewhere dangerous. Our democracy runs on trustworthy elections. Right now that trust is collapsing.

This week on Substack I break down how both parties lost faith in the system — and why rampant distrust puts the republic at risk.

In the video above, I walk through how we got here: from the civil rights movement and the Voting Rights Act, to Trump’s “Big Lie” of 2020, to the present push by the GOP for voter ID laws like the SAVE Act.

Is a “grand bargain” on voting possible? What would a comprehensive agreement that could satisfy all sides even look like? In the above video, I share a few ideas about that, too.
