Van, you continue to be a learned voice of anti-drama clarity, honestly, and conviction that brings people together rather than divides them. Our legacy media leaders and their followers need to take heed to this most essential position. Your voice may currently offer less click bate and shareholder return, but is required in journalism, our essential 4th arm necessary for a strong democracy. Bravo
…And I’m glad you said it, Van! It is grossly out of control, and more than Karen and Gavin need to speak loudly for truth and clarification. THANK YOU!🙏🏽 ❤️
Beautiful statement Van. Thank you. By your description, however, it did SEEM like you were thinking primarily of Pacific Palisades. Doesn't Alta Dena have lots of working class folks? I've heard it has a rich history of black ownership and cultural diversity. They took a huge hit in the Eaton fire. w many fatalities.
Thank you, Van! Listening to you calms my nervous system. I love how you deliver facts we're not hearing and somehow always focus on the best of us. Bless you!
Yes, these things need to be said aloud. I didn't read it as only the Palisades. I know Altadena a bit too. Did anyone mention that JPL had to evacuate? And that many of the scientists had to evacuate too- many possibly had their houses burned. I know tech people who worked long hours to keep the technology there for the space research going.
Thanks, Van. My kids graduated from Pali-all so sad. That anyone would think there was any way in hell to fight a firestorm w/o air support is beyond idiotic. Fire hydrants, Reservoirs? Gimme a break. But yes, the level of community support is so heartening. That’s how we move forward in
I’m no genius, but it is incredible to me how dumb some people are. My favorite is it’s Newsom’s fault. I don’t like him, and hope he never becomes president, but every time I hear Gavin is to blame, I picture him out there with a bottom of a coke bottle trying to burn ants, a fire starts and gets away from him. This is the most asinine take that any individual is at fault. Everyone has a part to play in this. My family has driven gas vehicles since the model A. We can’t pay enough in taxes to send people out to comb every wildland area. The mayor was gone. The homeowners don’t have a fire line around their home. Who gives a crap; we humans have been fucking up since that first bite of apple. We need to rally around each other! I guarantee this won’t be the worst, nor last, natural disaster we will face in these coming times, and this divisiveness is getting old. Thanks for bringing common sense to the forefront.
